A TALK will be given on the defence of
Sheffield during WWII at the next Mexborough and District Heritage Society
meeting.
Historian Cory Garner will give the
presentation at the George and Dragon pub in Mexborough on Tuesday, February
28, at 7.15pm.
He will explain how General Sir Fredrick
Pile, Commander-in-Chief of Anti-Aircraft Command, organised defences from the
north of Doncaster to the south of Chesterfield in order to protect
Sheffield’s industrial factories.
Mr Garner will also show a short film
depicting the defence of the city.
