A COLLECTION of rare and valuable books on the history art will be on sale at this year’s Art in the Gardens event.
The books have been collected by Julia Hitchens, the organiser of the popular St Luke’s Hospice Summer Fair secondhand book stall.
She hopes the specialist selection will give a boost to hospice funds when they go on sale at the Botanical Gardens event on September 3 and 4.
The highlight is an extremely rare volume of the history of art in Venice, which is valued at more than £100 and will be offered as a raffle prize, with tickets on sale at £2 each.
Also on sale will be showbusiness biographies, vintage children’s books, Royal Family commemorative volumes and books on old Sheffield.
