News - Creswell Crags Shortlisted for World Heritage Site

Creswell Heritage Trust is delighted to announce that Creswell Crags is to be placed on the 2011 UK Tentative List for World Heritage Status.

Creswell Crags was judged by an independent expert panel from the Department for Culture Media and Sport to have the potential to demonstrate Outstanding Universal Value. Creswell Heritage Trust applied for inclusion on the UK’s Tentative List in June last year and was one of 38 sites competing for a place. This decision now means that Creswell Crags is one of eleven potential future World Heritage Sites to be put forward by DCMS.

This is excellent news and it confirms that Creswell Crags has the potential to be placed alongside important sites such as Stonehenge and Hadrian's Wall.
