Councillors at Tickhill are hoping people will get another chance to peep behind the gates of the town’s castle.
They have asked their clerk to write to Trevor Moss, whose father holds the lease of Tickhill Castle, asking if the historic ancient monument could be opened to the public this year.
Last year’s open afternoon proved extremely popular with residents and visitors and gave them a chance to view one of South Yorkshire’s hidden jewels. The council has offered to organise the event if it is required.
I went to the event in 2010 and is was a great day despite the rain and short period of notice given that it was open. The event is definitely worth repeating and should become a regular event hopefully with stalls and historical and locally related subjects.
Castle is open tomorrow from 14.30
