Rotherham celebrates the 71st anniversary of the Battle of Britain this weekend.
On Sunday, September 18, the Rotherham Branch of the Royal Air Force Association will oversee a parade through the town centre, ending with a special service in Rotherham Minister.
At 10am a marching band, local veterans and members of the Rotherham Air Training Corps, the Girls Venture Corps and other youth organisations, will leave the Cenotaph in Rotherham’s Clifton Park to march through the town to Rotherham Minster.
The route will take them through All Saints Square where the Mayor and Mayoress of Rotherham, Coun. Shaun and Lisa Wright, of Rawmarsh, will take the salute. The Parade will then continue on to the Minster for the service at 10.30 am led by the Vicar of Rotherham, the Rev. Canon David Bliss.
