classic car enthusiasts are preparing for one of South Yorkshire’s largest vintage events, with more than 200 vehicles expected to take part next Sunday afternoon.
Each year, the English Heritage-owned Brodsworth Hall hosts the rally, when pristine examples of automotive history are parked on the front lawns of the estate.
Maddie Hawkins, the Brodsworth site supervisor, said: “This isn’t just an event for petrol heads, but a wonderful opportunity to see 100 years of automotive history in a beautiful setting.
“As a classic car is defined as being over 25 years old, most of our adult visitors will see examples of the cars that would have been on the road during their childhood, whether they are 25 or 85, most of them lovingly kept or restored by dedicated owners.”
The line-up is expected to include vintage classics and some unusual vehicles, including a 1911 Stanley Steam Car, which uses an external combustion engine to generate steam to power the vehicle.
Other vintage marques include Morris Minors from the 1950s, Triumph Spitfires from the 60s and a collection of Rolls Royces spanning several decades.
Modern classics will include 1980s Porsches and a 1981 Mercedes.
The event runs from 12 noon until 5pm with admission prices of £5.50 for adults, £5 for concessions and £3.30 for children. Prices include admission to Brodsworth Hall’s gardens, including the boat-themed children’s play area, which are open from 10am to 5.30pm.
