Event - V bomber crew sought for reunion (Newark)

Newark Air Museum is appealing for former V bomber personnel to get in touch ahead of a reunion.
The V bomber force was established in the 1950s as part of the UK’s Cold War nuclear deterrent.

The museum is holding a reunion of former personnel in April. It will mark 60 years since the formation of the force, 50 years since the Cuban Missile Crisis, and 30 years since the Falklands War.

It previously held reunions in 2004 and 2010.

More than 100 people have already registered their interest, but the museum is keen for more to get in touch.

It is particularly interested in contacting people who served at RAF V bomber bases at Coningsby, Cottesmore, Finningley, Gaydon, Honington, Marham, Scampton, Waddington, Wittering and Wyton.

The museum includes the Vulcan XM594, which was part of the force, among its exhibits.

Anyone interested can find an inquiry form at www.vforce reunion.co.uk

The event, on April 28 and 29, is also open to the public.

Event - V-Force Reunion (Newark Air Museum)

Newark Air Museum is hosting its third V-Force reunion event on Saturday 28th April 2012. The event is being organised by the same team as the hugely successful 2004 / 2010 events; and it will follow the same basic format. In 2012 will commemorates 60 years since the formation of the V-Force. Also 30 years since the Falklands Campaign.

To compliment this reunion the museum is also inviting a series of displays of V-Force material. This will continue to work under a title of “Tribute to the V-Force”. It is expected that displays within this format will be following similar formats from previous events. With many of those whom have previously displayed invited to do so again. These displays will be incorporated within the museum exhibition halls. Others, wishing to join the event with a sales pitch, will also be welcomed, although these will come subject to a ground rent charge.

The museum, located in eastern Nottinghamshire close to the border with Lincolnshire, is the home to Vulcan XM594, which saw local service at both RAF Scampton and RAF Waddington, with 27, 101 and 44 Squadrons between 1963 and 1982.

The event is open to the public and it all looks set to be yet another tremendous weekend. Regular updates are now appearing on the News Page of the museum website at http://www.newarkairmuseum.org/news.php
