Hello,
ReplyDeleteI am tracing my family history and have come to a family living in The Keeper's Cottage, Sprotborough in the 1871 census.
A look on google earth tells me that there is very little left of the village of that time. Nor do there appear to be any gravestones in the churchyard.
I would like to come to Sprotborough in the winter to have a look round and wonder if there is a library or if there are resources in Doncaster Museum which would include a map of around that time.
The family is that of George Goodman and one of his daughters married my great great grandfather on my father's side.
I do notice there is a Goodman family living in Sprotborough and will contact them shortly to see if they are descended from the same family. My father, born in 1921, does remember a relative in Sprotborough from when he was young.
Thanks,
Robert Hodgson, Addingham, West Yorks.
